Boris Johnson’s position on the Brixit is a pig in a pork. He makes the assumption that other Europeans have nothing to do with the EU and that UK is in a position to dictate terms to others. It’s an exaggerated opinion of oneself stepped in history but not in reality. The fact that our honour systems give gong after the British empire does not mean that there is a British empire. The Commonwealth is not a fall back position except if the chatter class have forgotten Maggi and South Africa episode in which the commonwealth threaten to expel the UK from its August body. I remember the adage that it’s easier for a poor man to be rich that a rich man to be poor. The supporter of Brixit are rich men who are now poor but insist on behaving like a rich man without the wherewithal of a rich man.
