A few months ago, absentee governor of Edo state, a former NLC president, admonished the Nigeria Labour Congress, over its lack of positive support for the political aims of the Buhari led APC/CPC government.
True to its turncoat tradition, the NLC being more christian than Christ, just proposed firing squad murder of those accused by the former comrade of corruption not committed by himself and his fellow travellers.
You would think I was babalawo but I assure you I am not. In 1984 Buhari and his cohorts came and told Nigerians of the drugs problems they did not know they had. They decided that they had to make example of the three people in jail. This was to stop the mischief of drug dealing on its tracks. Problem, there was no law and punishment for such an offence. Against natural justice and rule of law, General Buhari executed these kids on the alter of being the final arbiter of that which is good for us.
In 2015, APC/CPC won an election. They had in their sights people who had not decamped to APC and they then gave them a bad name, corrupt. An old African saying, give a dog a bad name and hang it.
APC henchmen and apologists went to town, calling anything that moved within the PDP government as corrupt. Now the NLC is advocating a Buharist proposition, which is that, people accused of corruption today and had committed no offence with a death penalty at the alleged commission of the offence should be shot due to their alleged offence. It’s déjà vu all over again.
There is a Chinese saying, mind what you wish for, you may just get it. Benefactors of corruption are as guilty as the thieves themselves. It’s said by PDP Ize Iyamu who was described by Oshiomole as “one pastor”, unchallenged, alleged that he and his partners in crime funded Oshiomole’s raise to power. Under NLC voice and Buhari’s action, both Ize-Iyamu and Oshiomole will be shot, even though they both did not know that the punishment for their offences is now after the event a death sentence.
I am positively gagging at the prospects of an such a miscarriage of justice. And prove the statistical saying that 78% of people who commit suicide regret their action. Oshiomole and his NLC choir may just regret their actions after it’s too late for them.
