Nyesom Wike made grave allegations of financial misconduct in Rivers State against former governor Rotimi Amaechi

Nyesom Wike accused Amaechi’s administration of significant financial mismanagement during his eight-year tenure as Governor of Rivers State. The key projects flagged include:
· The Abandoned Monorail Project: Wike alleged that billions of naira were sunk into a monorail project in Port Harcourt that was eventually abandoned, with its remains sitting near the Government House.
· A “Phantom” International Hospital: According to Wike, over $30 million was allocated for the construction of an international hospital, yet no foundation for such a project can be found today.
· Misuse of State Assets: Wike also claimed that a state-owned aircraft was taken abroad for years without any records of its whereabouts or purpose.
The N48 Billion NDDC Accusation Against Amaechi’s Wife
· The Core Allegation: Wike claimed that through Judith Amaechi’s non-governmental organization, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), she received a staggering N4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to train women in the Niger Delta. This would amount to N48 billion over the course of a single year.
· Call for Audit Report Release: Wike anchored his claim on the completed but unpublished forensic audit report of the NDDC, which was submitted to former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021. He publicly called on President Bola Tinubu to release the report, alleging that former Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami, “killed” the report to “protect those who are concerned”.
