Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
I was stranded with no money to get home, so I stepped into a corner shop. The shopkeeper—an Asian man—didn’t hesitate. Without questions or ceremony, he handed me a weekly bus pass.
When I got paid, I went back to repay him. He refused to take the money. Instead, I made it a point to do my weekly shopping there, and from that moment on, I carried that kindness forward in my own dealings with others.
My father used to say that God doesn’t appear in divine robes to help you; rather, anyone who comes to your aid is God showing up in human form. We are made in His image, so His presence lives through acts of kindness among us.
That day, standing in that small shop, my father’s words came alive. It felt less like a coincidence and more like a quiet revelation—and in that moment, I understood him more deeply than ever before.
