Ward by Ward: Little Thurrock Rectory by YourThurrock

THIS ward, is a bit like South Chafford, in that the other parties flatter to deceive. They make a few noises about taking it but then look at their resources, do the math and leave it to the candidate to try their best.

The Tories hed the seat by 138 votes in 2014 and 126 in 2015.

The Conservatives have the advantage of two reliable councillors who do, as they say, what it says on the tin. On this occasion, it is the leader of Thurrock Council, cllr Rob Gledhill. He has been councillor for some time now and has a solid reputation as a ward councillor, who will do his best for his constituents. He is also the type of leader, who no doubt will try and help behind the scenes.

As a leader of the council, he has also played to this strengths with a no-nonsense approach to anti-social behaviour and agreeing with officers strategy regarding investment.

You feel there is a dissertation or a documentary about the way Thurrock Council is run but not by us.

Labour, like a few other wards will be looking for a respectable showing, secure second place an an increased share of the vote.

The Thurrock Independents will be looking to get close to the 400 votes.

YT Prediction: Cons Hold.

Candidates

Lawson Akhigbe (Lab)

Rob Gledhil (Cons)

Jay Hayers (Thurrock Independents)
