Pastor Stanley Omoregie and 22 Nigerians, one Frenchman sentenced to 7 years in prison for sex trafficking in France

23 Nigerians and one Frenchman said to be members of a Lyon-based sex trafficking ring, have been handed a prison sentence of up to 7 years by a French court after being found guilty of forcing Nigerian women into prostitution.

One of Europe’s most wanted woman and Edo-born fugitive, Jessica Edosomwan accused of being the head of the sex trafficking ring which recruited women from Nigeria was sentenced in absentia.

AFP reported that 35-year-old Pastor Stanley Omoregie who claimed he only wanted to help the people in his community was also handed a prison sentence.

The convicts were arraigned in court after over 17 women who made up to 150,000 euros ($166,000) a month for the syndicate by selling sex in vans parked by the side of the road for as little as 10 euros filed a complaint against them.

It was gathered that over half of the 24 defendants present were women below 35-years-old and suspected of being the “mamas” of the network, in other words, pimps.
