When Senator Isiaka Adeleke from Osun state and APC senator died, the search for his replacement started in ernest.
His younger brother, Otunba Ademola Adeleke felt entitled to fill the vacancy. But he had a higher opinion of himself than his colleagues within the APC who opined that he was not a serious candidate and led a carefree lifestyle. APC opted for Senator Mudashir Hussein with the support of the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
Rauf is a governor whose repution with his people is currently strained due to his non payment of salaries to public servants.
Otunba Ademola Adeleke furious that his ‘right’ to the public office of his brother was not being respected decamped to PDP, with the residual goodwill of his brother. PDP a vessel without course was happy to receive him and fielded him as their candidate. And he won.
These intriguing scenario is akin to that which prevailed in Kogi state. A candidate of APC on course to winning died. His son felt entitled to replace him but the party had other plans and on that occasion, the party prevailed.
